2. Scope and Singapore law
This policy explains how I collect, use, disclose and protect personal data when you visit storyedge.life or contact me through the site. It is written to comply with the Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (PDPA) of Singapore and the advisory guidelines issued by the Personal Data Protection Commission (PDPC).
By submitting the contact form, you consent to the collection and use of your personal data as described here. You may withdraw consent at any time by writing to me, subject to legal or legitimate retention requirements.
3. What personal data I collect
Contact form. When you use the Say hello form, I collect your name, email address and message content. I also record the date and time of submission (Singapore time) and whether you ticked the PDPA consent checkbox. I do not collect your phone number, NRIC, or payment details through this site.
Cookies. If you interact with the cookie banner, I store your preference (accept all, reject all, or customised choice regarding analytics cookies) in a browser cookie named storyedge_cookie_consent. This preference is retained for six months unless you clear cookies sooner.
Server logs. My hosting provider may automatically log technical data such as IP address, browser type, referring page and access time. I do not actively use these logs for profiling. They may be retained briefly for security and troubleshooting.
What I do not collect. There is no account registration, newsletter signup, e-commerce checkout or social-login on this site. I do not knowingly collect personal data from children under thirteen.
4. Purposes of collection, use and disclosure
I collect personal data only for purposes that a reasonable person would consider appropriate in the circumstances:
- To read and respond to your contact-form message;
- To keep a record of correspondence if you follow up later;
- To remember your cookie preferences so the banner does not reappear unnecessarily;
- To maintain basic site security and fix technical faults.
I do not sell, rent or trade your personal data. I do not use your contact details for marketing mailings unless you explicitly ask to receive something, which this site does not currently offer.
Contact-form submissions are emailed to my designated inbox for processing. My email and hosting providers may process data on servers located outside Singapore. Where data is transferred overseas, I rely on their contractual commitments to provide a standard of protection comparable to the PDPA.
5. Consent and withdrawal
The contact form includes an unchecked consent checkbox. Submission is blocked unless you actively tick it. This ensures consent is meaningful and informed.
You may withdraw consent for future processing by emailing [email protected]. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal. If you withdraw consent, I will stop using your data for correspondence except where I must retain it for legal reasons.
6. Retention
Contact-form messages are kept in my email inbox for as long as needed to respond and for a reasonable period afterward (typically up to two years) unless you ask me to delete them sooner. Cookie consent records expire automatically after six months. Server logs are retained according to my hosting provider’s policy, usually no more than thirty days.
7. Your rights under the PDPA
You may request access to personal data I hold about you, or ask for correction if it is inaccurate. You may also request deletion where I no longer have a legitimate reason to retain it. Write to [email protected] with your request. I will respond within thirty days where possible.
If you believe I have handled your data improperly, you may contact the Personal Data Protection Commission (PDPC) in Singapore after first giving me a reasonable opportunity to address your concern.
8. Security
I take reasonable steps to protect personal data from unauthorised access, collection, use or disclosure. The contact form uses a honeypot field to reduce automated spam. No system is perfectly secure; I cannot guarantee absolute security but I will notify affected individuals if a breach occurs where required by law.
9. Changes to this policy
I may update this policy from time to time. The last updated date at the top will change when I do. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy for new interactions. Material changes will be noted on this page.
10. Contact
